Deborah Davis Ford

South Orange Village President?

Running a campaign of misinformation, negativity and divisiveness

Example 1: Use of negative campaigning to instill fear, with false information about the Fire Department merger, despite having never raised any concerns prior to the campaign or done anything about it during 12 years on the Board of Trustees.  In fact, she attended only 17 Public Safety Committee meetings during her 12 years on the Board of Trustees, despite the fact that the meetings are held monthly and she was an appointed member of the committee for 10 of her 12 years on the Board of Trustees

Example 2: Presenting divisive information against Maplewood in a mailer about the school funding formula, despite having never raised this issue or done anything about it during 12 years on the Board of Trustees (and being fully cognizant of the fact this this is a State issue which our representatives in Trenton will never touch)

Example 3: Released an outdated DRAFT document on her campaign page regarding the Fire Department Merger, despite knowing the document was outdated and therefore irrelevant.  She also knew that the document was a DRAFT and therefore was not ready for public consumption. How can anyone expect to negotiate in good faith with someone who doesn't respect the process?

Example 4: Distributed a negative mailer criticizing downtown development, despite being on the Board of Trustees for the past 12 years!

Example 5: Running an excerpt from video at a Board of Trustees meeting, without noting the DATE of the meeting or acknowledging that there have been numerous meetings and discussions about the Fire Department merger since, which have changed the direction of the negotiations.

Example 6: Refusing to participate in multiple debates on multiple issues for the benefit of the voters.

If a candidate to run the Village doesn't have the forethought to register their campaign website domain, will they have the forethought to properly plan ahead for all of the  complex challenges faced by the Village?
